SHL Assessment Database 2026: Current Tests, Legacy Assessments & Replacements

SHL is not one single test. Candidates may encounter different generations of cognitive assessments, interactive Verify tests, personality and motivation questionnaires, workplace scenarios and role-specific assessments. This independently maintained database helps candidates identify the assessment they are actually taking before choosing how to prepare.

Quick answer: some SHL assessment names found in older preparation guides refer to legacy Verify products that SHL formally retired. Newer or replacement assessments may use a different product name, interface, timing or format. Your exact invitation wording and the instructions shown before your assessment should therefore take priority over a generic description found online.

Why an SHL Assessment Database Is Needed

A search for a phrase such as “SHL numerical test” can return pages describing different generations of SHL assessments. An older guide may have been accurate when it was published while no longer describing the exact assessment a candidate receives today.

SHL has published retirement information for a group of legacy Verify assessments and has identified replacement options. Its wider product portfolio also extends far beyond the four reasoning tests most candidates associate with SHL.

The practical problem: two websites can both describe an “SHL Numerical Reasoning Test” while referring to different generations or interfaces.

The ReasoningCampus Assessment Intelligence Database therefore separates:

  • the exact assessment or product-family name;
  • the specific format documented by SHL;
  • whether SHL has explicitly retired an older version;
  • the replacement SHL itself identifies, where one has been published;
  • the date on which ReasoningCampus last rechecked the information.

The objective is to create a practical version-control reference for SHL candidates, rather than another generic list of aptitude-test definitions.

How We Classify SHL Assessment Information

ReasoningCampus does not label a test “current” simply because its name appears somewhere online. Product names can remain visible in catalogues, historical documentation or employer systems after newer assessment generations have been introduced.

Official fact sheet
SHL publishes documentation for the specific assessment containing format or product information.
Publicly listed
The assessment family appears in SHL’s publicly accessible product selection at the time of the review.
SHL-named replacement
SHL explicitly identifies the assessment as a replacement option for an older product.
Retired legacy version
SHL explicitly states that the identified legacy assessment has been retired.
Important: a broad assessment-family name and a specific assessment generation are not always equivalent. Always compare the complete wording in your invitation with the instructions provided for your own assessment.

SHL Assessment Database: Important Assessment Families and Formats

The table below brings together important SHL assessment families relevant to cognitive and behavioural assessment preparation. Where an exact official fact sheet has been verified, the published format is shown. Where only a broader product-family listing is available, we deliberately avoid inventing timings or question counts.

Format information is shown only where ReasoningCampus has checked a public SHL source for the specific assessment.

Legacy SHL Verify Tests and Official Replacement Options

One reason SHL information online can appear contradictory is that SHL formally retired a group of legacy Verify Gen 1 assessments and published replacement options.

This matters because an older preparation article may still be useful for the underlying reasoning skill while describing an assessment generation that is no longer the recommended replacement.

Legacy-to-replacement mapping based on SHL’s published Verify Gen 1 retirement information.

Preparation takeaway: do not prepare from the broad words “numerical”, “verbal” or “inductive” alone. Whenever possible, identify the complete assessment name first.

SHL Verify G+ vs Verify Interactive G+: Why the Difference Matters

The distinction between Verify G+ and Verify Interactive G+ is a useful example of why candidates should identify their exact assessment version before preparing.

Comparison of the official SHL fact sheets checked by ReasoningCampus.
FeatureVerify G+Verify Interactive G+
Abilities measuredNumerical, Deductive, InductiveNumerical, Deductive, Inductive
Allowed time36 minutes36 minutes
Maximum questions3024
Published formatMultiple-choice, adaptiveInteractive / activity-based, adaptive

The two figures—30 and 24 questions—do not automatically mean that one source is incorrect. The SHL documents describe different assessment formats.

Candidate rule: if your invitation specifically says Verify Interactive G+, do not automatically rely on preparation material describing the 30-question multiple-choice G+ format.

Verified SHL Interactive Reasoning Formats at a Glance

The official SHL interactive fact sheets demonstrate why one generic “SHL test format” cannot accurately describe the entire Verify family.

These figures refer only to the specific official SHL documents checked for this database. They should not be generalized to every similarly named assessment without checking its own instructions.

How to Identify the SHL Assessment You Actually Have

Read the complete assessment name.
Use the exact wording in your invitation or candidate portal rather than a broad phrase such as “SHL aptitude test”.
Look for format or version terms.
Words such as Interactive, G+, Numerical Calculation, Verify or OPQ can materially change the preparation route.
Read the tutorial provided for your assessment.
The instructions attached to your live assessment take priority over any generic third-party article.
Practise the underlying ability.
Once the assessment is identified, train transferable reasoning methods using original questions rather than memorising assessment items.

Not Sure Which SHL Assessment You Have?

Use the ReasoningCampus SHL candidate hub to identify the relevant assessment family from the wording in your invitation.

For security, never paste passwords, candidate IDs, confidential questions or secure assessment links.

What ReasoningCampus Does Not Present as Fact

Assessment preparation is more useful when documented information is clearly separated from speculation.

  • We do not publish invented universal SHL pass marks.
  • We do not claim to know confidential employer cut-off scores without reliable evidence.
  • We do not claim that particular mouse movements, eye movements or answer changes automatically cause candidate rejection unless supported by reliable primary documentation.
  • We do not reproduce confidential live SHL assessment questions.
  • We do not present unsupported scoring theories as official SHL algorithms.
Our editorial principle: if the available evidence does not support a precise answer, we state the limitation rather than inventing certainty.

Candidate Questions About SHL Assessment Versions

How do I know exactly which SHL test I am taking?

Start with the complete assessment name shown in your invitation, candidate portal or pre-test tutorial. A broad description such as “numerical test” is not enough to reliably identify the assessment version.

Are Verify G+ and Verify Interactive G+ the same format?

No. The official SHL fact sheets checked for this database describe different formats. Verify G+ is documented with a maximum of 30 multiple-choice questions in 36 minutes, while Verify Interactive G+ is documented with a maximum of 24 interactive/activity-based questions in 36 minutes.

Does every SHL assessment have the same number of questions?

No. Question counts and timings vary by assessment.

Can older SHL preparation material still be useful?

Yes. The underlying reasoning skills may remain relevant, but older descriptions of the interface, timing, product name or question count may not match the assessment you receive today.

Does ReasoningCampus reproduce confidential SHL questions?

No. ReasoningCampus uses original educational exercises designed to develop transferable reasoning skills.

How This SHL Assessment Database Is Researched and Verified

This database is maintained differently from a standard evergreen blog post. Time-sensitive factual claims are checked against primary SHL documentation where an appropriate public source is available.

  • specific assessment versions are separated from broad assessment-family names;
  • legacy products are separated from SHL-named replacements;
  • official SHL facts are separated from ReasoningCampus preparation recommendations;
  • documented scoring information is separated from online speculation;
  • ReasoningCampus original educational material is separated from proprietary SHL content.
